Happiness Eluded Her

Happiness eluded her.

She was always somewhat aloof; in every aspect of the word.

A dreamer, of sorts.. One who wanted to feel the ever so mysterious emotion of happiness.

She did what she was told. She followed the normal measures of being happy, but there was apparently not a thing on earth that could soothe her wretched mind.

And so she dreamt. Spending her time chasing an emotion that she wasn’t even sure she had felt genuinely before.

Hypomanic. Manic. Depressed. Numb. Anxious.  These were her familiar emotions. These were the reasons she sought out happiness with such resiliency – because she knew someday she’d feel it.
